Hi friends, I’m here again!
Today I’m going to talk about how is Christmas like in the United States and also I want to talk about one curious thing that currently is happening. Where is the snow?
I thought that on Christmas in New York all of the streets should be full of snow and it would be cold, but I think I’m very lucky. I asked to my host dad and he told me that this weather is very weird and it doesn’t happen since 6 years ago. The last year the snow came on Hallowen, imagine! Now, it’s only raining and there isn’t any cold.

Hoy voy a hablar de cómo es la Navidad en los Estados Unidos y también quiero hablar de una cosa curiosa que actualmente esta pasando. ¿Dónde está la nieve?
Creía que durante la Navidad en NuevaYork todas las calles deberían estar llenas de la nieve y haría frío, pero creo que tengo mucha suerte. Pregunté a mi Host Dad y me dijo que este tiempo es muy extraño y que no pasa desde hace 6 años. ¡El año pasado por Halloween había niebe, imagínate! Ahora, sólo llueve y no hay frío.
Christmas tree:
Who hasn’t watch in some american film or tv show a Christmas tree standing in almost every house in the United States?
In every single american family, there is a huge and natural tree. It’s common to put different decorations and it’is typical to see families together decorating the tree.
Some decoration have a meaning, for example below I show you. The children decorate the tree with candies or with art crafts that they made at school.
Ususally the tree is placed next to the fireplace, because it mean that on 24th of December at night Santa Claus is coming at home through the chimney to bring presents to children.
Two weeks ago, my host family and I went to buy a huge tree that you can see under it and we were decorating the tree all night.. It’s very beautiful. I had never seen a tree like this. In Spain usually people buy a medium size tree not like this.

¿Quién no ha visto vez en alguna película americana o serie un Árbol de Navidad estando en casi todas las casas en los Estados Unidos?
En cada familia americana, hay un árbol enorme y natural. Es común poner decoraciones diferentes y es típico ver a familia juntas decorando el árbol.
Algunas decoraciones tienen un significado, por ejemplo abajo le muestro. Los niños decoran el árbol con dulces o con cosas que hicieron en la escuela.
Normalmente, el árbol se coloca al lado de la chimenea, porque significa que el 24 dediciembre en la noche Papá Noel viene en casa a través de la chimenea para traer regalos a los niños.
Hace dos semanas, mi familia anfitriona y yo fuimos a comprar el árbol enorme que puede ver debajo y nos estuvimos casi toda la noche decorando el árbol. Es muy bonito. Nunca había visto un árbol como este. En España por lo general la gente compra un árbol de tamaño medio, no como este.
Santa Claus:
Two days ago, my little cousin who live in New Jersey, he showed me a webside where Children can figure out where is in live Santa Claus.
Also, there are another system where the children can call to Santa Claus and order him presents that they want. This is an application called Portable North Pole 2015.
On these dates, the children are very excited to open presents, they are very innocent.

Hace dos días, mi primo pequeño que vive en Nueva Jersey, me mostró una pagina web donde los Niños pueden averiguar donde está en Papá Noel en vivo.
También, hay otro sistema donde los niños pueden llamar a Papá Noel y pedirle regalos. Esto es una aplicación llamada Polo Norte Portátil 2015.
En estas fechas, los niños están muy emocionados para abrir los regalos y también me encanta porque son muy inocentes.
Christmas lights:
In USA you can see how the people decorate their houses. Do you think that some of them are a little exagerated?
I like the houses when they are very crowded of light ouside, but I think a lot of families are crazy with that. I saw in Connecticut, another satate close where I live, a house with amazing and full of decoration. Is very beautiful and there are a lot of more like this house, sure!
- En los EE. UU puede ver cómo la gente decora sus casas. ¿Crees que algunos de ellos son un poco exajerados?
Me gustan las casas cuando están muy decoradas, pero creo que muchas familias están locas con esto. Vi en Connecticut, otro estado cerca donde vivo, una casa asombrosa, llena de decoración y luces.
Postcards about Christmas:
Is very common in USA to give a postcard between neighbors, family and friends. Every year the postcard is different and more original. It doesn’t mind how far is this person, what really matters is that you send or give a postcard in Christmas.
When the family recieve postcards, they save them and put them around the living room until the next year.
- Es muy común en los EE. UU dar una tarjeta postal entre vecinos, familia y amigos. Cada año la tarjeta postal es diferente y más original. No importa si la persona vive cerca o lejos, lo que realmente importa es que que gente se envía o da una tarjeta postal en la Navidad.
Cuando la familia recibe tarjetas postales, las guardan y las ponen alrededor del comedor hasta el próximo año.
Socks for Santa o Stocking:
This is the most famous tradition on Christmas. All of the families have these types of large socks and they hang them up in the fireplace. Every sock is customised with the name of each member of the family and Santa Clause put candies or notes inside.
There are a legend where explain the history about these large socks.
- Esta es la tradición más famosa durante la Navidad. Todas las familias tienen estos tipos de calcetines grandes y los cuelgan en la chimenea. Cada calcetín esta personalizado con el nombre de cada miembro de la familia y Santa Clause pone dulces o notas dentro.
Hay una leyenda donde explican la historia sobre estos calcetines grandes.
Christmas songs or Christmas carol:
Personally, I like more the english Christmas songs that the spanish Christmas songs, sorry! Hahaha.
I want to show you some different songs about Christmas that specially I like and I have heared in America.
You can listen these songs in the supermarckets, in the stores, on the Street, in the school, etc.. Are very beautiful!
